A septic system is something that is easily forgotten until something goes horribly wrong. What should you avoid running down your kitchen sink? Is one type of toilet paper safer to use than another? How often does your septic tank really need to be cleaned? These were just some of the questions that I had about my septic tank after it had backed up and filled my yard with raw sewage. Since then, I have spent hours researching septic systems so that I would not have to go through that again. I have developed my website to make learning about septic systems a little easier for others like me.
With winter finally out of the way, you may be considering carrying out some work on your commercial roof in order to repair any damages caused by the elements. However, if your roof requires extensive repairs to get it back in shape, you may be better off by renovating the structure entirely. Choosing a new roof for your property can be overwhelming -- with so many options available, which one should you choose? Well, a large number of commercial businesses are opting for zinc as their chosen material, and here's three reasons why:
It's Very Aesthetically Pleasing
First and foremost, you'll want your company's new roof to look great. Although materials such as timber look stunning from the inside, there is nothing quite like the sharpness of a metal exterior. Zinc is one of the best metals for aesthetics, having a crisp quality simply stunning to behold.
With the use of zinc for roofing on the rise, you don't have to wait for a good patina to form on the metal. Rather, there are a wide array of finishes you can choose for your zinc roof, ranging from matte finishes to uniform coating. There are also a number of textured finishes to choose from (such as fish-scales) that will make your new roof stand out on the horizon.
It's An Extremely Diverse Material
Zinc roofing and cladding can be used on all roof pitches, from the most shallow of flat roofs to the sharpest of angles. Additionally, as it is an extremely thin material, it can be manipulated into any curve you want, without having to sacrifice on the roof's integrity. This means you don't have to worry about introducing new materials to create the design you want -- every shape you can imagine can be made out of zinc.
With that said, roof designs incorporating an extremely low pitch angle may require some ingenuity on your part; however, this is extremely easy to achieve. Single ply zinc membranes provide all of the material's aesthetic qualities whilst being perfect for low pitch angles. Using single ply membranes where your roof goes horizontal will allow you to have a fully homogeneous roof with no sacrifice on material quality!
It's One Of The Most Durable Materials
Many people are surprised by this -- how can such a thin material have such a high service life? Well, the answer lies in the metal's inherent resistance to degradation. Zinc is 100% weatherproof, being more corrosion resistant and UV-resistant than other metals. This means that no combination of weather extremes will affect its structural integrity. The underlying reason for this is the metal's protective coating (known as a patina) that forms naturally on the surface and protects it from water ingress.
Most other roofing materials, such as timber and concrete, do not respond as well to weathering and can suffer from material degradation as a result. With zinc however, you don't have to worry about maintenance as the material will sort this for you! Over the long term, this makes zinc an extremely cost-effective solution, letting you put more money back into your business.
If you do decide to use zinc on your new commercial roof, you should make sure you choose the right commercial roofing contractor to carry out the installation. As zinc is a highly flexible material, you have to choose a contractor with the skills and experience to carry out the installation with a high level of workmanship. Otherwise, your roof may fail. Although it may cost slightly more initially, you can rest assured your new commercial roof will be long-lasting, aesthetically-pleasing and durable.
